A Riverside County murder investigation that has been dormant for nearly 20 years is back on the front burner. Sheriff’s investigators announced Sunday they are holding a San Diego County man for a 2006 gunshot slaying. They have linked Anthony Miera, 51, to the death of Raymond Cardenas, a resident of Riverside. Cardenas, then 21, was slain at a residence on Citrus Street in Highgrove. Investigators say they developed enough evidence to arrest Miera. (INT) Redlands police say they arrested Ryan Winston Stewart, 38, as he fled down an alley after assaulting his girlfriend and setting the living room of their home on fire. Firefighters controlled the fire in 15 minutes. But, three cats and a dog perished in the Friday night (December 19th) fire. Stewart is held on $80,000 bail. (INT) Jasmine Glover-McNamara has been named the San Bernardino Director of Animal Services. The department that not only serves the City of San Bernardino, but the cities of Colton, Fontana, Grand Terrace, Loma Linda, Rialto, and Fontana. (INT) Walking the Santa Ana River Trail near Riverside may require some detours over the next several months. Levees are being rehabilitated to maintain long-term flood protection for Riverside and Jurupa Valley. During construction, the trail will remain open. (INT) In Temecula, a young woman is jailed in connection with fatally shooting another. Sheriff’s deputies found the victim on Friday (December 26th) at a residence on Sunflower Way. Arrested was Nicaela Hernandez, age 31. Details of the incident and the victim’s identity were not released.
