California workers feel pain of Great Recession
SACRAMENTO--A new report issued for Labor Day documents the pain California workers are feeling because of the ‘Great Recession’.
The California Budget Project says the recession stands apart from prior downturns for both the depth and breadth of weakness in the job market. More jobs have been lost at a faster rate in the past two years than during any prior recession. The CBP found that California’s under-employment rate has reached an all-time high and the share of the jobless who have been without work for more than 6-months has also risen to the highest level on record. The report also showed the recession has wiped out all of the jobs Californians gained during the previous four-year economic expansions. Double-digit unemployment is forecast through at least 2011 as job recovery is likely to be long and slow. (INT) How to survive depression anxiety 1.
