CPS worker accused of child assault
RIVERSIDE--A case worker for Child Protective Services is accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old boy he supervised.

Sean Birdsong, 37, is on administrative leave pending his arraignment on suspicion of luring the boy out of his foster home in Rubidoux and then driving him to his Riverside apartment.

DPSS Director Susan Loew said there was nothing in a background check to indicate Birdsong might be a risk to children when he was hired three years ago.

“This agency is entrusted to help and protect children and we have no room here for anyone who violates that trust,” Loew said.
