Republicans call for death of health care plan
WASHINGTON--House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s 1,990-page health care plan is drawing fire from two Inland Empire Republicans.

Jerry Lewis, the senior member of the area’s Congressional delegation, says it will cost hundreds of billions of taxpayer dollars, raise health care costs and cut Medicare benefits.

Lewis says the Pelosi plan would create a “public insurance company”, as he put it.

Corona Congressman Ken Calvert urged that the bill be killed. He says it “puts freedom and American ingenuity under the knife”.

Calvert says the Democrats’ plan “will fundamentally alter how Americans manage the personal health care choices.” (INT)
