Palm Springs man fakes military service, awards
RIVERSIDE--Federal prosecutors are taking a Palm Springs man to task for wearing military uniforms and medals although he never served in any branch of the armed services.

Steven Burton, 39, has boasted on the Internet of being a Marine and of his ‘combat experiences’ in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Burton was photographed wearing the Navy Cross, the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart.

Burton is facing arraignment in U.S. District Court in Riverside.

Conviction of the misdemeanor offense carries a maximum penalty of one year in federal prison. (INT)
