Gasoline price spike running on fumes
SOUTHLAND--Gasoline prices seem to have lost their volatility.
For the past 8-months, pump prices across Southern California have not been more than 15-cents-a-gallon above or below the 3-dollar mark for regular gas. Spokesman Jeff Spring at the Auto Club notes that a 12-cent-a-gallon run-up at the beginning of the year fizzled out. “It’s hard to say if we’re gonna see a run-up as we typically do in the springtime. Summertime gasoline costs more to produce, so I expect something.” Spring notes that current prices are the second-highest Southern California drivers ever had at the beginning of the year. 2008 was the most-expensive year ever.
