Clean up accelerates before next storm
SOUTHLAND – With the ground saturated, each passing storm packs the potential for mud and debris flows.
Sue Cannon at the US Geological Survey warns that a replay of last weekend’s trouble in La Canada Flintridge will persist… The Station Fire shows a very high probability of producing debris flows of a very significant size.” Areas below those burned by wildfires the last 3-years are the worst potential trouble spots. But, flash flooding is likely in other areas of sparse vegetation. A raging mountain creek took out a section of Highway 74 east of Hemet that may take a week to repair.
