Survey: Payroll expansions seen
INLAND EMPIRE--Local employers surveyed by Manpower, Incorporated plan springtime hirings at more than twice the rate of the first quarter.

Nineteen percent expect to increase staff levels. Eleven percent will downsize and sixty-one percent plan no changes.

Manpower’s Evlyn Wilcox in San Bernardino says it’s good news compared to the first quarter when only 8 percent of the employers were expanding payrolls.

“We could use a lot more in the job market. Things are moving in the right direction.”

Job prospects appear brightest in manufacturing, transportation, retail trade, information and professional and business services. (INT)
