43% of Riverside County ballots uncounted
RIVERSIDE – Nearly half of all the Primary Election ballots cast in Riverside County have yet to be counted.

The 100,000 ballots represent about 43 percent of the total.

Rebecca Spencer at the County Registrar of Voters office says it’s the largest number of uncounted ballots after any election and is attributed to those who waited until the weekend to vote-by-mail.

“There’s a rising trend in vote-by-mail. Each ballot must be signature-checked, opened and counted.”

That could take a couple of weeks.

The results will decide if there’s a run-off election for county school superintendent. Winners for the first Eastvale City Council have not been decided. (INT)
