Bill seeks to redefine vote-by-mail deadline
RIVERSIDE – Assemblyman Bruce Nestande wants to correct the ‘wrong’ over the 12,500 vote-by-mail ballots that were not counted in the June 8th election.

Nestande has submitted a bill that would require future ballots postmarked on Election Day to be tabulated before the final election results are certified.

Riverside County Registrar of Voters Barbara Dunmore wants to follow all Election laws.

“We want to count all ballots that we legally can. If the law changes, we certainly can do that.”

Meantime, the thousands of ‘late’ uncounted ballots from the Primary Election remain in quarantine pending a July 9th court hearing. (INT)
