Corona landfill yields pregnant teen's body
CORONA – A tragic discovery in a landfill has ended the search for a teenage Bloomington girl missing for nearly three months.

The remains of Anyssia Escamilla have been found in a plastic bag and positively identified.

Fontana police Sergeant Billy Green says sixty volunteers have been painstakingly searching the landfill for forty days.

“They narrowed it down to a 200 by 100 yard grid and about 60 feet deep. They had searched about 85 percent of the area possibly containing her body. We were going to cease our search at the end of this week.”

Searchers began their work after Anyssia’s boyfriend confessed to killing her in Fontana and dumping her body in the trash because she was pregnant.

Jesus Avitia, Jr., 18, has been charged with two counts of murder. (INT)
