Victorville will have nation’s first hybrid power plant
VICTORVILLE--It’s precedent-setting. Victorville is getting closer to building the nation’s first hybrid power plant.

The Victorville 2 power plant will be the second located at the Southern California Logistics Airport and will generate 570 megawatts.

It will combine solar technology with the cleanest fuel fire technology, according to Thomas Barnett, Executive Vice President of Inland Energy Inc., the project developer.

“The two technologies are not just located next to each other they are truly integrated in that they share the same steam turbine,” he said.

He says the Mojave Desert is among the best solar energy resources.

Construction is slated to start at the end of summer. A groundbreaking ceremony is expected to garner a lot of national attention.
