Red Flag fire warnings accompany heat wave
INLAND EMPIRE – The triple-digit heat has triggered red-flag fire warnings in parts of Los Angeles and Ventura counties.

Fire fighting equipment has been deployed to high fire danger areas. But, the Southland has been void of any major fires.

In the mountains, the fire danger is described as ‘very high’. It could worsen with the arrival of the Santa Ana winds next month.

In Corona, Jake Rodriguez with the Cleveland National Forest says this fire season has been tame by comparison.

“So far this season, things have been pretty slow. We haven’t seen a lot of fire activity and that’s a good thing.”

Last week’s fire in Long Canyon along the Riverside-Orange County line was fully extinguished over the weekend. (INT)
