Metrolink to adopt automatic train stopping
LOS ANGELES – Metrolink will award a $120 million contract to the Parsons Transportation Group to manage and integrate an automatic train-stopping system called Positive Train Control (PTC) technology on its 512-mile system.

PTC is collision avoidance technology that monitors and controls train movements remotely. It can prevent train collisions, unauthorized train movement into a work-zone, movement of a train through a switch left in the wrong position and trains exceeding authorized speeds.

Metrolink is geared to becoming the first railroad in the nation to implement PTC on its 512-mile system. (INT)
