Sunday mail deliveries ended in Adventist community
LOMA LINDA – Residents of this Seventh-day Adventist community have been getting Sunday home mail deliveries for decades. Last Sunday was the last.

Saturday is the Sabbath for Adventists and mail has not been delivered that day. But, Postal Service spokesman Don Smerldi says times are changing.

“We’re looking at added cost-factors for Sunday deliveries. The community has changed over time and we figured it was a good time to switch back for efficiencies and cost-savings for all our customers.”

The first day of Saturday mail service will be April 23rd.

That may end in Loma Linda and elsewhere across the nation as the Postal Service explores ways of cutting expenses. (INT)
