Heat wave victims found
PARKER DAM--An elderly man and woman may have become victims of the current heat wave.

San Bernardino County authorities say the couple had stopped near Black Meadow Landing on the Colorado River and got separated. The 90-year-old husband was apparently stricken by temperatures of 116 degrees.

His wife fell while looking for him and died. The husband was last reported in extremely critical condition after being found by a passer-by.

An excessive heat warning for the deserts remains in effect.

Riverside County authorities say that in spite of the heat wave, cooling centers will not open until July 1st.
