Colton Crossing funding in jeopardy
COLTON – Funding of the Colton railroad crossing is at a critical point.

The California Transportation Commission Thursday allocated $91 million, but then set it aside until a bond sale is held.

Project Director Gary Cohoe at SANBAG explains that millions more in federal stimulus money is at stake.

“We’re optimistic we will get the state funding. But if we don’t and fail to get this project under construction by the end of the year, there is the risk we will lose $33 million in federal funds. The project could be at risk."

The Colton Crossing will elevate one crowded rail freight corridor over another easing bottlenecks on both. (INT)
