MoVal marks 1-year since Norma Lopez slaying
MORENO VALLEY – A sister’s plea bears the same emotion as it did a year ago.

“No other girl should ever have to go through this. We’re trying to get the killer so no other family would suffer. It’s something terrible, terrible, terrible.”

It’s been a year since 17-year-old Norma Lopez was abducted and slain as she walked home from school.

Since then, the murder investigation has become the most intense in Moreno Valley’s history. Rewards still stand, but all the leads came to a dead end. An SUV seen in the area and its owner were not involved.

Sheriff’s Sergeant Joe Borja vows never to close his investigation.

“What we’re asking for is any information which would lead to another lead.”

Norma’s sister won’t rest until the killer is found and arrested.

“If you know something, tell the police. It could be anonymous. That way we could find this person and this will not happen to another girl.”

Norma Lopez was a summer student at Valley View High School. (INT)
