Perris Valley Metrolink approval
RIVERSIDE – Extension of Metrolink service to Perris cleared a major hurdle Monday with the Riverside County Transportation Commission approving an Environmental Impact Report.

The Perris-Highgrove link requires construction of four stations and track improvements. The RCTC’s John Standiford says it carries a price tag of $223 million.

“There is $75 million in federal funding. It is supplemented by the voter-approved Measure A sales tax program. This measure was approved in 2002 helps implement the funding.”

Standiford expects federal approval within the next few weeks.

Construction would start by the end of the year ending a decade of discussions. (INT)
