Restaurant manager convicted in waitress' slaying SAN BERNARDINO – A Superior Court jury has found Redondo Beach restaurant manager Tony Perez guilty to slaying a waitress and dumping her body near Running Springs.
A call to WE TIP initially implicated Perez in the 2009 murder of Cori Daye Desmond. Investigators said physical evidence led them to theorize that a sexual assault was the motive. Perez was arrested eight months after the young woman’s body was discovered in a bag near a turnout along Highway 330. Perez will be sentenced September 12th. (INT) Story Date: July 29, 2011
