29 Palms Marines ending Afghanistan deployment
TWENTYNINE PALMS A battalion of Marines returns to the Air Ground Combat Center this week.

During their 7-month deployment in Afghanistan, three were killed and dozens of others wounded.

The battalion saw heavy combat in the volatile Helmand province.

The Marines provided security for the local government, the Afghan National Army and the local population. They trained 500 new police officers.

A memorial service for the fallen Marines will be held October 27th. (INT)
