Lawsuit delays Metrolink extension
PERRIS – Talks are continuing in hopes of resolving a lawsuit challenging an environmental impact report on the extension of Metrolink service from Riverside to Perris.

The Friends of Riverside Hills contend the EIR failed to fully address the impact of the 24-mile extension.

John Standiford at the Riverside County Transportation Commission says the funding for the project is in place.

“It’s a combination of federal funding, about $75 million which has been approved, some state funding and the Measure A local sates tax dollars. The money has been set aside. We just need to get approval to move forward.”

There would be improvements to an existing rail line between Riverside and Perris and passenger stations built. (INT)
