Dream Act opponents push for its repeal
HESPERIA – Opponents of the California Dream Act say they’re getting a lot of support to overturn the new law that allows undocumented immigrants to apply for student financial aid.

Hesperia Republican Assemblyman Tim Donnelly is backing a petition campaign to put the issue before the voters.

“There is so much demand at the grocery stores. People are coming up and asking if they have the Dream Act petition.”

Opponents of the Dream Act say it disenfranchises legal resident students in a time of soaring budget deficits.

The law’s author Senator Gil Cedillo says the Dream Act will put California on a path toward economic stability. Cedillo says the economy is in need of an educated work force. (INT)
