Shoppers ease up on holiday spending spree
INLAND EMPIRE – Black Friday and Cyber Monday gave the opening of the holiday shopping season a huge start, but shoppers have since eased up.

Marketing Professor Rami Zwick at UC Riverside says most local retailers are smiling in the final days before Christmas.

“When compared to last year, there has been an increase in spending.”

But, he says shoppers are cautious looking for the biggest markdowns.

“Consumers are responding to the advertisements. Look for more sales right through New Year’s. This is the case now and the case historically.”

An Auto Club survey found three-fourths of Southern Californians changing their shopping habits in order to get more out of their holiday budgets. (INT)
