Trial delays Perris Valley Metrolink line
RIVERSIDE – (INT) - Trial may start late this summer over the disputed extension of Metrolink service to Perris.

The Friends of Riverside Hills have issues over the Environmental Impact Report relating to stepped up use of train traffic on the Box Springs Grade. Freight traffic has existed for decades along the existing BNSF tracks between Riverside and Perris.

John Standiford at the Riverside County Transportation Commission says upgrades will be delayed until the lawsuit is settled.

“The tracks and signaling equipment will have to be upgraded in many locations. Stations would be built in South Perris and the Hunter Park business area in Riverside.”

That could be completed in 18 months, he says.
