Vote-by-mail may eclipse 50 percent
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – If voting-by-mail is any indication, election officials expect 70 percent voter participation in Tuesday’s election.

Kari Verjil is Riverside County’s Registrar of Voters.

“We will have a high voter turnout. But what is different is the large volume of vote-by-mail balloting. I’m encouraging voters to get those ballots turned in before Monday. We can get those in with the first vote result that is released Election Night.”

Vote-by-mail ballots not in the hands of election officials when the polls close at 8pm Tuesday will not be counted.

In the last presidential election 4-years ago, 40 percent of voters cast ballots by mail. This year, it could be more than half.
