Last minute shoppers save holiday season
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – Retailers are primed for shoppers the final weekend before Christmas.

Many people are procrastinating, not sure what to buy.

Rami Zwick, Professor of Marketing at UC Riverside, notes a lull that set in after Black Friday has worn off and shoppers are back in the stores.

"The pressure to get gifts is mounting and that’s forcing some people into impulse buying.”

One survey found that two-thirds of consumers had finished their holiday shopping as of last weekend. The average California family is spending $749 on gifts.

As for the retailers, forecasts of a ‘green’ shopping season seem to be holding up.
