Riverside cop shoots at his own patrol car
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – A motorist who stole a Riverside police car and survived an officer-involved shooting escaped capture early Sunday.

An officer had tried to stop the driver for a traffic violation setting off a chase that ended when the suspect crashed the vehicle, momentarily disappeared and then returned. As the officer investigated, the suspect jumped into the unoccupied patrol car and sped into the night as the officer fired at his own vehicle.

It was later found abandoned in Jurupa Valley.

Investigators are trying to obtain evidence from the suspect’s car in hopes that might lead to his identity.
