Report: Women not sharing in economic recovery SACRAMENTO – (INT) – Women are not sharing equally in California’s economic recovery.
That’s the conclusion of the California Budget Project. Executive Director Chris Hoene says they looked at jobs, among other things. “Over the past few years, men in California experienced modest gains in employment while women faced declining employment. Weaker employment gains for women reflected a decline in public sector jobs that accompanied the latter part of the Great Recession and its aftermath, federal, state and local jobs particularly, and in public schools.” The California Budget Project chided policymakers for making cuts that have weakened the social safety net that helps women and their families.
