Voters decide Riverside election
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – One of four seats up for election on the Riverside City Council won’t be decided until November.

Two retired law enforcement officers, Mike Soubirous and Valerie Hill, polled the most votes in Tuesday’s election in Ward 3, but neither got a majority in the 5-person race.

Ms. Hill sees herself in a different role as a public servant.

“I tell people I’m not a politician and I’m not. I’m a long term public servant. If being a council member was a regular job involving a resume, people might look at it and say “She’s got the experience we need to fill this job.”

In Ward 6, retired police Lt. James Perry polled the most votes among six candidates, according to initial returns.

Incumbent Councilmen Andy Melendrez and Paul Davis were unopposed.

Measure ‘A’ was easily approved.
