Riverside seeks to replace lost San Onofre power
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – The city’s 1.7 percent ownership of the defunct San Onore nuclear power plant is raising questions.

City Councilman Mike Gardner has a concern.

“Who is responsible, economically, for the problems with the steam generators that caused the units to shut down and now Edison’s decision not to attempt to restart them. Riverside will no longer get its share of power from San Onofre, about 35 megawatts. We’re okay for now, but we do need to look for replacement power.”

And, he says what happens to Riverside’s investment in San Onofre “will take a long time to sort out”.
