Colton Crossing gets a remake, ‘test’ trains on the move
COLTON – (INT) – The first ‘test’ trains are moving through the Colton Crossing.

Union Pacific began use Sunday of a new ‘fly over’ bridge eliminating an intersection that has existed for a century.

Spokeswoman Lena Kent at BNSF says it will speed the passage of a hundred trains a day that previously had to stop.

“Now that the bottleneck is eliminated, trains will be able to move through that area more efficiently. It will prevent trains from backing up and stopping waiting for another train to pass.”

The Colton Crossing was built at a cost of $200 million.

It will be formally dedicated August 28th.
