Teen faces murder charge in half-brother's slaying
MURRIETA – (INT) – A 16-year-old Menifee boy appears in juvenile court Monday for a detention hearing in the death of his younger half-brother.

Skylor Atilano is charged with murder. Prosecutors are asking that he be charged as an adult.

His detention hearing was postponed to September 17th.

Terry Smith’s mother reported her son missing from their Menifee home last Sunday. That touched off a massive search that brought out a thousand volunteers. It came to an end 3-days later when the body of the 11-year-old boy was found in a shallow gave outside the family’s home.

There are reports that the boy was killed with a rock.

The older boy will appear for the September detention hearing at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta.
