FONTANA – (INT) – Two members of the Fontana school board have been fired and replaced with two candidates who won Tuesday’s recall election.

About 70 percent of those voting decided to remove Leticia Garcia and Sophia Green.

The candidates who polled a majority of all votes cast were Shannon O’Brien and Ayanna Blackmon-Balogun. They will serve out the unexpired terms of Garcia and Green.

Only about 7 percent of the school district’s registered voters cast ballots.

Last spring, more than 11,000 Fontana voters signed petitions to bring the recall to the ballot box.
