Magnitude of Great California Shakeout grows
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – The magnitude of another ‘Great California ShakeOut’ is being felt beyond the state’s borders.

Thursday’s earthquake preparedness drill is being billed as the largest in the nation’s history. Ten million Californians are involved.

As Riverside County Fire Chief John Hawkins put it, “It’s a matter of our personal preparedness. We play the way we practice.”

All thirty-three school districts in San Bernardino County are participating.

Cal State San Bernardino Professor Joan Fryxell is going right to the source. She’s leading a hike to a branch of the San Andreas Fault just north of the campus.

The Sun City Palm Desert community will switch on its own emergency broadcast radio station just before Thursday morning’s drill at 10:17am.
