Motorcycle safety campaign announced RIVERSIDE – (INT) – Police say that fatalities from motorcycle accidents are on the rise.
Statistics have been increasing since 2011. The most recent data reveals that primary causes of motorcycle-involved crashes are speeding, unsafe turning and impairment due to alcohol and other drugs. So-called ‘lane splitting’ also figures in many freeway mishaps. Riverside police are responding with a 1-day motorcycle safety enforcement operation. On Friday, extra officers will be on duty patrolling areas frequented by motorcyclists and where motorcycle crashes occur. Story Date: January 17, 2014
