YUCAIPA – (INT) – San Bernardino County Sheriff John McMahon lead Wednesday’s dedication of a segment of Highway 38 in memory of slain deputy Jeremiah MacKay.

Deputy MacKay died last year in a shootout with fugitive former LAPD officer Christopher Dorner.

Sheriff McMahon unveiled highway signs dedicated to deputy MacKay.

“He had the courage, tenacity and resolve to risk everything,” McMahon said at the deputy’s funeral.

Wednesday’s ceremony was at the Yucaipa Community Park Amphitheatre.
