Rubber meets the road: sbX rolls
SAN BERNARDINO – (INT) – It’s all aboard the sbX.

Buses started rolling Monday on the 16-mile rapid transit bus line. Passengers will get free rides the first week.

They will board on platforms which will help those with disabilities.

Spokesman Dave Rutherford says financing of the $197 million project was split among several sources.

“About 80 percent was funded through the Small Starts program of the Federal Transit Administration. Very little comes through state and local sources.”

sbX was envisioned a decade ago. Construction began in October 2011.
