Boston runner overcomes the odds
BOSTON – (INT) – UC Riverside’s director of the student-wellness center overcame a pair of medical set-backs and fulfilled her dream of competing in the Boston Marathon.

Stacey Grady was diagnosed with osteoarthritis at age 11 and just 10 months ago underwent colon cancer surgery.

She’s been a frequent competitor in 10K marathons and frequently runs five miles or more with a group of UCR employees during her lunch breaks.

Stacey says she wanted to prove to herself, and others, that she could overcome the odds.

She completed the Boston Marathon in just over 4-hours and 10 minutes.
