Home foreclosures fall to 2006 levels
SOUTHLAND - (INT) – The rate of home foreclosures in California changed little the first quarter of the year and mirrors a level last seen in early 2006.

Los Angeles County had a 5.2 percent increase. San Bernardino County followed at 4.3 percent and Riverside County rose 3.3 percent.

About the overall housing recovery, DataQuick’s Andrew Lepage says “It’s playing out more slowly than a lot of people hoped. We are seeing more people put their homes up for sale, so the inventory is increasing. Demand is increasing, too. But, the key is trying to get to a closer average level of inventory or homes up for sale.”

DataQuick says the role of ‘short sales’ is fading.
