Drug 'take-back' day reaches 8th year
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – Saturday is drug ‘take-back’ day.

Police departments and other locations have been set-up where expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs can be turned in.

Corporal Fred Alvarez at the Ontario PD explains what happens to the drugs that are turned in.

“They are picked up by the Drug Enforcement Agency and destroyed.”

Drug ‘take-back’ day strikes at the alarming rise in prescription drug abuse, accidental poisonings and overdoses.

Unwanted drugs are also finding their way into landfills while others are flushed down the toilet.
