Fire tornadoes battled in San Diego County, body found, teens arrested
SAN MARCOS – (INT) – Hot, dry winds are fading, but San Diego County’s fire fight is not over.

A house-to-house battle raged in San Marcos Thursday as flames advanced on hillside homes. Fire tornadoes erupted in one neighborhood.

Some residents got out when they could. Others joined the fire fight.

San Marcos and Carlsbad have sustained the biggest losses with dozens of homes damaged and destroyed.

Once the flames are controlled, damage assessment teams will survey the nine fire zones in San Diego County.

Arson investigators are already at work to help pinpoint the causes of those fires.

Late Thursday, officials in Carlsbad reported finding a charred body in a transcient camp that had been overrun by the Poinsettia fire.

Two teenagers were arrested on arson charges in Escondido.
