Cutting election costs: Polling places double up
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – In spite of the anticipated low voter turnout Tuesday, Riverside County Registrar of Voters Teresa Spencer says election costs were about the same.

“We’re always looking for cost-saving ideas. In the June election, it’s more difficult for find polling places and poll workers. Many schools are closed and can’t be used for polling places. Other locations are closed for vacations and other things that are going on for the summer.”

In some cases, multiple polling places were set up at the same location.

Voting-by-mail ran about the same rate in Riverside County.
