DUI study singles out two cities INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – Law enforcement continues to wage an intense campaign against DUI drivers. But, a study released Monday suggests it’s not having much impact in the region’s two largest cities.
The consumer advocacy outfit NerdWallet found that San Bernardino is the nation's deadliest city for fatal crashes involving a drunk driver. Riverside isn't much better: it ranked third out of the nation's 150 largest cities. The study also looked at how DUI impacts insurance premiums. In San Bernardino, a conviction increases rates by a whopping 135%. Riverside's penalty is even higher at 140%. NerdWallet analyzed data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
