Population growth, 'temps' impact job growth
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – Local job growth is slowly returning to pre-recession levels.

The State Employment Development Department put the rate at 2.8 percent the past 12-months. But, the growth is being inflated by temporary jobs.

And, Johannes Moenius at the University of Redlands School of Business says the number is being impacted by another factor.

“Job growth is about where in was in June 2008. There has been population growth in the meantime. As a result, we’re not looking that much better than in the low part of the recession.”

The U-of-R study found no areas of the Inland Empire currently shedding jobs.
