Ontario airport passenger use on a comeback
ONTARIO - (INT) – Passenger volume at Ontario International Airport has made its first, 6-month gain in nearly nine years.

Figures issued Monday show that just over 2 million passengers used the local air terminal the first half of the year for a gain of nearly 2-percent.

International passengers flying to and from Mexico accounted for the biggest gain of more than 65 percent when compared to the first-half of last year.

Airport Manager Jess Romo is encouraged noting that passenger volume increased even as the number of available seats are lower than last year at this time. June alone reflected an increase of over 5.8 percent compared to June 2013. Romo said carriers are flying more efficiently with higher load factors, which positively impact their bottom line.

Ontario has a long way to go to reach the peak of 7.2 million passengers for all of 2005.
