Supes oppose reducing criminal penalties
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – Opposition is building to a statewide initiative on the November ballot that would reduce most non-violent crimes from felonies to misdemeanors.

Riverside County supervisors have come down against Proposition 47.

Supervisor Jeff Stone says it’s an invitation for disaster.

“It’s amazing the proponents call it the ‘Safe Neighborhood and Schools Act’ when, in fact, it would mean unsafe neighborhoods and make the schools more unsafe with all these unsavory individuals being released in our communities.”

Prop 47 could give up to 10,000 prison inmates a chance at re-sentencing.
