New ordinance aimed at pot growers
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – County Supervisors are putting commercial marijuana growers on notice.

Kevin Jeffries singled out three communities in his district where hundreds of marijuana groves have been spotted.

“In Mead Valley, Good Hope and Meadowbrook, we have an explosion of grow yards that are not small in number. Many are commercial operations, but not all. Many have their neighbors scared to death.”

Some worry that the drug cartels are moving in.

Jeffries wants to impose fines and jail terms for pot growers.

“The problem is the law does not allow us to distinguish between medical marijuana and others. This could be a 1-stop ban on all cultivations,” Jeffries said.

The supervisors will debate imposing an urgency ordinance on September 23rd that could become effective in October.
