Official's first pay raises in 6-years modified
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – Riverside County’s elected officials are getting some generous pay raises, the first in six years.

Auditor-Controller Paul Angluo made this argument Tuesday.

“For a leading county such as Riverside, facing tremendous challenges, we need to have some sharp people here, competitively paid.”

County Supervisor Kevin Jeffries cast the only ‘no’ vote.

“I made a commitment during my campaign not to take pay raises, not to take stipends, not to take a pension. It’s just my standard.”

The county supervisors’ salaries will remain at 80 percent of what Superior Court judges are paid.

As proposed, five other elected officials could have received raises up to 25 percent. But in a compromise, the supervisors backed down and voted raises that would put them $1,000 above their immediate subordinates.

Sheriff-Coroner Stan Sniff will get $268,000 and incoming DA Mike Hestrin $247,000.
