Debate flares over Hinkley groundwater
HINKLEY - (INT) – Pacific Gas and Electric is notifying residents that it’s winding down a water filtration program now that California has established a drinking water standard for chromium-6.

PG&E says it no longer has to provide bottled water.

Activist Erin Brockovich claims the groundwater contamination PG&E caused in the desert community remains.

“We tested 17 wells recently that PG&E had not looked at. Most had elevated levels of hexavalent chromium. We’d like to identify wells that are still contaminated that PG&E hasn’t looked at.”

PG&E says it will end bottled water deliveries October 31st.
